Selfie vs Self Portrait. A Selfie is all surface, the face we present to the world — always smiling, always “presentable”, living up to the expectation society places on us to be pretty, perfect, and happy. Our days are filled with opportunities to post selfies and get those likes, but when did you last create a Self Portrait? The Self Potrait is more vulnerable, honest, and unique– and it can be anything you want it to be. According to a recent study in Psychology Today, all 113 female test subjects felt LESS attractive after posting a selfie, and none of the variables measured showed any evidence of a positive psychological effect of selfie posting. So, forget the likes, forget “pretty”, leave behind your inhibitions — focus on your SELF and not your Selfie.
